Before entering the Platinum Match, multiple preparations must be made. Try to be at least level 70 or up before attempting to fight Sephiroth. Also you will need to equip the following abilities: MP rage, Second Chance, Guard, Counterattack, High Jump, Glide, Superglide, Dodge Roll. Also try to have some decent accessories equipped. It is important that during this match you constantly cast aeroga, and constantly heal yourself. Set those abilities to shortcuts, because he is immune to all other magic. Now that your ready to enter, the match at first will seem very impossible. In the first stage sephiroth only uses his horizontal sword slash and teleport abilities. Of course this means that you can't run straight at him, unless you have reactions faster than the soldier commander. During the first stage, you will want to keep your distance from him, and attack when you see an opening. Remember, you must either go under or above his slash, so use either dodge roll of Highjump/Glide to get to him. Attack with air or ground combos (preferably ground) until he teleports behind you to counterattack. As soon as he teleports immediately lock on, because your target will be broken after the teleport, and use the guard ability. If your fast enough then you can block his counterattack. Don't worry if at first his life bar does not decrease, you are still hurting him. After getting a few combos off, Sephiroth will speed things up. He starts running and taking an offensive postion. Use the same strategy as before, but this time you'll have to watch out for his most devastating attack: Sin Harvest. When he teleports away from you, starts glowing, and says sin harvest, drop everything (even if you need to heal), and superglide towards him and slash him. If he gets this attack off, you'll end up with 1HP and no MP (so pack a couple of elixirs just in case). Even though this is his best attack, it is also his weak point. Deliver your most powerful combos when he is casting Sin Harvest. After this stage he tries a number of air combo attacks on you. You cannot stop him in this stage. Just make sure you have aeroga cast, and mash the block button to avoid serious damage. When he finishes this, the final stages are at hand. He will then cast the all powerful attack, meteor. Once again, he is invunerable. Dodge between the rotating meteors to avoid damage, and when he uses the finishing meteor stay as close to the ring's edge as possible. Now is you oppurtunity to strike the finishing blow. He will use a darkness ball attack to surround you and close in on you. During this stage concentrate on only finishing Sephiroth, and of course your HP bar. Try to avoid the darkness balls, while attacking him with combos. His HP bar should be green by now. If you fail to finish him off in this stage, he will use a combination of all the stages to take you down. Strike the final blow and claim victory over the soldier commander!
